Coming out of a deep recession in 2009, Mississauga is well positioned to lead the GTA and Ontario in economic recovery, given its large and diverse business sector.  Opportunities are abundant to develop a sustainable thriving economy, providing well paying, high quality jobs for our residents - maintaining Mississauga as an attractive place for business, workers and families.

Recognizing that employment cannot be addressed by just government alone, Mayor McCallion is inviting leaders representing business, education, not-for-profit groups, labour organizations and government to come together for a half-day session to discuss and identify strategies and partnerships to increase employment in Mississauga.

The goals of the Summit are to:

  • Better understand the employment challenges in Mississauga
  • Focus on the employment challenge for youth and newcomers
  • Discuss  innovative solutions to support labour needs of business and industry sectors
  • Develop action plans to quickly increase long term attractive employment opportunities

To ensure wide representation, the Mayor has formed a partnership of several groups in the City to organize and host the Summit including:

  • The Mayor of Mississauga
  • The Mississauga Summit
  • The United Way of Peel Region
  • The Mississauga Board of Trade
  • Labour, specifically the Carpenters Union and LIUNA
  • The University of Toronto Mississauga, and
  • The Sheridan Institute

By launching the Mayor’s Job Creation Summit, Mayor Hazel McCallion is seeking the input of as many of the key players in job creation as possible.

If you are available and interested in attending the Mississauga Job Creation Summit please RSVP by February 2, 2010. Complete the enclosed registration form and send it to the Mississauga Board of Trade.
